When you apply a new crack with Nier, it wont detect the old one for whatever reason. Put this app in the save game folder under C: Users USER Documents My Games NieR_Automata, run it and follow the instructions. NieR:Automata is developed and published by Square Enix. It was released in 17 Mar, 2017. NieR: Automata tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim the machine-driven dystopia overrun by powerful machines.
I say possible because I've only been playing for 3h with this, so I can't say for sure it won't crash, but I've never been able to play the game for so long before with no crashes.
After launching SmartSteamEmu launcher and running Nier Automata, go to Task Manager and find NieRAutomata.exe on the Details tab. Then right click it, choose Set Affinity, and disable every second CPU. So for a dual core, like mine, you should have CPU 0,1,2 and 3. Disable 1 and 3. For a quadcore, disable 1,3,5, and 7. And so on. I noticed no performance hits at all. So far so good.
My specs: i5-6200U, Gtx950m laptop, running the game at 1280x720, Vsync Off, AA 2x, Texture filtering 4x, blur off, shadow low, effects high and ambient occlusion off. I'm not running FAR.

EDIT: Played for one more hour and still no crashes, I guess I can say this works at least for me. I don't know how to fix the common Jet engine sound issue, because I never had it myself.

Copy Paste the code below to Notepad, save the file as <FileNameThatYouWant>.bat in the game directory, run as admin:
you must change the value '55' depending on how many physical cores your processor has
1 core = value is 1
2 cores = value is 5
3 cores = value is 15

EDIT4 and final: I tried FAR once I was sure my game was running steadily. Lowering the lighting set did improve fps a bit (although I didn't need it, I'm fine running it at 30-40 fps) but I got lots of stuttering problems that weren't there before, and an actual crash 20min in. Once I removed it everything went back to normal, no more crashes. Maybe it was a badly cracked FAR, I don't know, but I'm not using it anymore because the game runs perfectly without it for me. Try to remove FAR first before you troubleshoot, make the game work, THEN try FAR. Some people got it working with FAR, some had to remove it, read all the comments, you might find some good info.
